4 reasons medical students in UAE should attend medical conferences

For medical students as well as healthcare practitioners, the benefits of attending medical conferences are comprehensive.

Notably, with an excellent knowledge base, unbeatable technology & a strong digital & social network, UAE stands among the leading regions of the world to have outstanding healthcare strategies & CMEs. The region provides thousands of CMEs and helpful workshops that stand out in the crowd. So, if you live in UAE, come let’s explore what role medical conferences play in the lives of medical students.

  1. It is an ocean of valuable information

CME medical events & conferences in UAE basically aim to improve the knowledge base of medical students & practitioners. Surrounding with leading pharmaceutical companies, mentored by field mavens, these events serve as a window for learners to learn cutting edge knowledge & latest developments that might not be a part of their curriculum.

2.  Pathway to career

For students & job seekers, conferences serve as a golden chance to build network contacts and PRs with field mavens and pharmaceutical organizations. In many cases, most of the medical event management companies in UAE connect recruiters from the healthcare community in UAE & potential employees in a professional way.

3.  An open forum

The learning experience for students at a medical conference is unmatched. It allows students to ask questions and get instant feedback from the professionals and presenters that are sharing information. These Q&A forums teach students even more than the actual session sometimes.

4. Makes curriculum vitae heavy

Adding a learning experience of a CME or a medical conference/workshop in your curriculum vitae marks a good impression on the employer when you’re seeking a job. It strengthens the impression of one’s thirst & motivation for gaining knowledge and exploring new things.

So, whether you are a medical student or just have passed your student level, try to attend at least one medical conference in your lifetime. If you live in UAE, you can check “Focus Gulf’ online to find and sign up for the best upcoming medical conferences and conferences in UAE.

Emerging issue of non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease in UAE

There has been up to a 40 % increase in the pervasiveness of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in UAE through past few years.

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease refers to an unusual buildup of fat in the liver of an individual who consumes little or no alcohol. The condition does not only damage the organ but can lead to some serious complications and pain. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is increasingly, prevalent in every corner of the world. However, due to epidemic levels of obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus, 1 in 3 adults in UAE riske fatty liver disease.
In this article, I am going to put light on some common symptoms  & causes, of NAFLD and an upcoming Hepatology conferences event in UAE 2018, that practitioners should look for.
 Common symptoms

The disease often doesn’t cause outward symptoms but, when signs are present--they generally include:
  • Pain in the right side of abdomen
  • Enlarged liver
  • Jaundice
  • Enlargement of blood vessels
  • Fatigue
  • Swollen belly
Common Causes

The accurate causes of NAFLD are still not clear. Doctors reveal that there is a link between the resistance of insulin hormone & NAFLD. When the muscles & tissues require glucose for the energy, insulin basically helps our cells to absorb glucose from the blood. It also helps liver to grasp excess glucose. When the body gets insulin resistance,  cells do not respond to the insulin hormone in the way they should. In this way, several layers of fat start getting deposited in the liver that makes liver to scar. Remember, scarrer your liver would be, the less proper would it be working.
Helpful CME for healthcare practitioners

In an upcoming health care medical event in UAE, to be held on 22nd of February 2019, (organized by Focus Gulf) healthcare experts will be discussing emerging challenges & cutting-edge solutions to this emerging issue in UAE. If you’re a liver-specialist, sign up for the event & get a chance to collaborate with high-level field maven through and interactive session.
